Why work in New Zealand?

NZ is one of the world’s top tourist destinations because of its amazing landscape and range of world class activities. Here is a chance for you to experience NZ and earn your travelling money while doing so. Who knows you may like it here so much that you may decide to live here, lots of working holiday people have!

We will assist you so that getting started in NZ is easy, so you can enjoy your stay here and earn money at the same time. We will find you work with reliable and friendly kiwi employers who have excellent reputations in their industry.


Once you are registered, We will find you work and if you like, we can find you accommodation of your choice also.  For example, you may want to live with a New Zealand family, so you can personally experience the Kiwi culture, so we will organise for you to meet with a family, and you can pay to stay with them, for the duration of your stay in the region.  Or, you can stay at a backpackers, so you can meet other travellers.  We will organise the accommodation, of your choice, closest to your work placement.

We can also inform you personally and extensively to make your trip in New Zealand easier and more enjoyalable.  For example, we can inform you about; Interesting places to visit, great activities to do, alternative transport routes to take, excellent events to see in the region you are visiting.  

Working holiday scheme

New Zealand has agreements with 34 countries for people to work and play. The New Zealand Working Holiday Scheme (WHS) offers work permits or work visas in New Zealand for up to 12 months (or 23 months for UK), and to work for up to three months for any one employer.

You can apply for a WHS permit if you meet the following NZ criteria:

  • You are between 18 and 31 years old, some countries allow up to 35 year olds.
  • You are not bringing children with you.
  • You haven't done this before.
  • You have sufficient funds, so if anything happens you can get a return flight home.

New Zealand offers a lot of different jobs

Throughout the year we are constantly looking for workers. International employees fill up a huge percentage of employment in NZ Depending on the season and the region you choose to work in, you could:

  • harvest fruit, apples or wine grapes
  • pack and sort fruit
  • prune fruit trees and grape vines
  • maintain crops and various other vineyard jobs
  • be involved in summer horticultural work

Experience is needed for most jobs

Some training is provided before you commence work, on-the-job.  Some jobs, such as; picking apples, vineyard de-budding, shoot thinning, wire dropping and lifting and grape picking, do not need experience.  Mostly, there is a wide range of positions available for skilled people. 

There are a lot of position becoming available for the re-build of the devestatingly damaged South Island city of Christchurch.  These jobs will mostly need the skills of Tradesmen, below is a list of trades that are needed.  All you need to be is enthusiastic about new experiences and are willing to put in a hard days work.

Trade employment

  • Labouring
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical services.

If you have the skills, use them. For these trade jobs, a C.V will be required.
